New Registration Process Now in Effect
A new registration process is currently in place for certain noncitizens residing in the United States. Under the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA), most foreign nationals aged 14 and older who were not previously registered and fingerprinted when applying for a U.S. visa, and who remain in the U.S. for more than 30 days, must now register through a newly launched online system.
Additionally, noncitizen children who turn 14 while in the U.S. must complete their registration within 30 days of their 14th birthday. Parents or legal guardians are responsible for registering children under 14.
How to Register
1. Create a myUSCIS Account
Each registrant must have their own separate USCIS online account. For children under 14, a parent or legal guardian must create an account in the child’s name and manage the registration process on their behalf.
2. Complete Form G-325R Online
Registration is currently free. The required Form G-325R must be submitted online through the individual’s USCIS account. It cannot be filed by mail or in person.
Important Note: Before submitting the form, confirm whether you have already registered. If you have been issued a Form I-94 or I-94W upon admission or parole into the U.S., you are considered registered.
Individuals who were previously registered but not fingerprinted, and who turn 14 while in the U.S., must submit Form G-325R within 30 days of their 14th birthday.
3. USCIS Review
After submitting Form G-325R, USCIS will determine whether you need to attend a biometric services appointment.
4. Attend Biometrics Appointment (if required)
If required, you will receive a notice to attend an appointment at a local Application Support Center (ASC). USCIS will collect your fingerprints, take your photo, and require your signature to conduct a background check through the FBI.
5. Download Proof of Registration
Once approved, your official Proof of Alien Registration will be available as a downloadable PDF in your USCIS account. All registrants aged 18 or older must always carry this proof with them.
All noncitizens in the U.S. who meet the registration criteria are legally required to comply. Failure to register may result in civil or criminal penalties.
