United Kingdom: Additional English Test No Longer Required for Tier-2 Visas for Medical Professionals

As of October 1, 2019, medical professionals no longer need to take an English language proficiency exam like TOEFL or IELTS to apply for Tier-2 work permits in the United Kingdom. Occupational English Test (OET) scores are considered sufficient. This category of professionals includes doctors, dentists, midwives, and nurses.

What Has Changed from the Past?

Previously, healthcare professionals had to take an additional English Language exam like TOEFL or IELTS to apply for Tier-2 Visas, in addition to their OET. This change streamlines the process for medical professionals to obtain visas and allows healthcare positions to be filled more quickly.
