US citizens in India have been able to return to the United States due to a nationwide COVID-19 shelter in place order. The US Mission to India has organized flights from India to the United States this week specifically for US citizens.
US Citizens can complete a traveler form with the US Mission to India to reserve a seat on flights this week:
It is unclear whether flights will continue for US citizens after this week. Americans in India should also enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) for additional flight availability. Travelers must hold a US passport and Indian visa to board these flights.
The US Mission to India is organizing connecting domestic flights for US citizens to depart India from outside New Delhi and Mumbai. Upcoming domestic flights into New Delhi will depart Dehradun (April 6), Amritsar (April 7), and Chandigarh (April 7), with buses from Ludhiana (April 6), and Dharamshala (April 7). Additional flights into Mumbai include Chennai and Hyderabad (April 7 and 10).
