The US Department of State has issued a travel advisory for Hong Kong due to ongoing political demonstrations throughout the city, including at Hong Kong International Airport. Some protests have turned violent.
Travelers in Hong Kong are advised to monitor local media updates, take necessary caution, and keep a low profile. Flights may be delayed or cancelled, so we recommend that travelers review their flight status in advance. US nationals can also register with the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP), which enrolls them with the nearest US Embassy or Consulate, sends alerts, and provides support in the event of an emergency.
Corporations should ensure their employees in Hong Kong are safe and fully aware of the situation. We also recommend providing employees with a company emergency contact.
