Congress has passed a temporary budget to fund the government through December 3, 2021. The bill contains measures to continue to fund immigration services, however the fiscal year (FY) 2022 federal budget and its immigration reforms are still under debate. President Biden is expected to sign the short-term bill today, avoiding a government shutdown on October 1, 2021.
The temporary bill extends both the E-Verify program and the Conrad 30 program for medical graduates in underserved regions through December 3, 2021. Both programs were set to expire on September 30, 2021 after 11:59 PM eastern time.
By December 3, 2021, Congress must either pass a budget for FY 2022 or approve another temporary funding measure to prevent a government shutdown.
