Update: Premium Processing Begins For All FY 2020 H-1B Cap Petitions on June 10

By: Angelita Chavez-Halaka, Armando Escobedo, Gladys Gervacio

SUMMARY

Beginning on June 10, 2019, USCIS will start accepting premium processing requests for all Fiscal Year (FY) 2020 H-1B cap petitions.

FY 2020 H-1B Cap Premium Processing Procedure:
  • Petitioners will be allowed to file Form I-907 (Request for Premium Processing Service) with the appropriate USCIS service center that is adjudicating their petition.
  • Premium processing will remain available for all H-1B petitions that are cap-exempt.
Pre-Paid Mailer Temporary Suspension:

From June 10 through June 24, USCIS will not use pre-paid mailers to deliver final premium processing notices for FY 2020 H-1B cap petitions that are not requesting a change of status. After this period, USCIS will resume using pre-paid mailers when operationally feasible. This temporary suspension is intended to ensure that USCIS processes all premium processing requests in a timely manner.

*Please note that USCIS began returning all H-1B cap petitions that were not selected in the computer-generated selection process. USCIS will announce when it has completed notification of petitioners and returned all unselected petitions.

As always, we will continue to monitor for any update.
