USCIS COMPLETES SELECTION OF FY 2020 H-1B CAP PETITIONS

By: Angelita Chavez-Halaka, Armando Escobedo, Gladys Gervacio

SUMMARY

USCIS announced on May 17, 2019 that it has completed data entry of all Fiscal Year (FY) 2020 H-1B cap petitions, including H-1B Master’s cap under the advanced degree exemption.

what to expect now?

USCIS will begin returning all H-1B cap petitions that were not selected in the computer-generated selection process. USCIS will announce when it has completed notification of petitioners and returned all unselected petitions.

USCIS asks petitioners not to inquire about the status of their H-1B cap-subject petition until they have been issued a receipt notice or their unselected petition has been returned.

Due to the volume of filings, USCIS may transfer H-1B cap-subject petitions between the Vermont and California Service Centers. If a petitioner receives notification that a case was transferred, all future correspondence must be directed towards the service center processing the petition.

As always, we will continue to monitor for any update.
