Data entry is complete for all fiscal year 2019 H-1B cap-subject petitions. USCIS selected H-1B petitions during a random, computer-generated process. All H-1B cap-subject petitions that were not chosen will be sent back to filers by USCIS.

Because of the high volume of petitions received by USCIS, the agency cannot provide a timeline on when unselected petitions will be mailed back. While cap-subject H-1B applicants wait to receive either a receipt notice or their unselected petition, USCIS has requested that they do not contact the agency about their petition status.

To balance the load of cap cases, USCIS may transfer some Form I-129 H-1B cap-subject petitions between the California and Vermont Service Centers. Individuals whose petitions have been transferred will be notified by mail.
