USCIS is recalling close to 8,543 green cards, because the “Resident Since” date on these cards was printed incorrectly.
The misprinted cards were sent to lawful permanent residents between February and April 2018. Holders of these cards will receive notices from USCIS, along with a prepaid return envelope. Attorneys will be notified as well, where applicable.
Those affected must return their green cards to USCIS within 20 days of receiving the notice. Once each card is received by USCIS, they will mail back a replacement green card within 15 days.
The printing error does not affect an individual’s lawful permanent resident status.
If these individuals need to travel abroad while waiting for their replacement green card, they should contact USCIS at 800-375-5283. Some travelers in this situation may need additional proof.
