USCIS to Reduce Processing Times for N-400 & I-485 Applications

By: Angelita Chavez-Halaka, Armando Escobedo, Gladys Gervacio

SUMMARY

USCIS plans to schedule interviews outside of normal jurisdictions for Applications to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status (Form I-485) and Applications for Naturalization (Form N-400) as a strategy to decrease processing times.

What to Expect
  • USCIS may issue an interview appointment notice or another type of notice such as a Request for Evidence (RFE) from a field office outside of an applicant’s normal jurisdiction.
  • Applicants will still be directed to attend their biometrics appointment at the Application Support Center (ASC) closest to the applicant’s jurisdiction.

Please Note: Applicants should follow the instructions on any notice received from USCIS.
